How an air source heat pump works

An air source heat pump works by absorbing the heat present in the outside air and using it to heat buildings or provide hot water. To do this, the cold outside air is passed through an evaporator in which a refrigerant evaporates and absorbs the heat. The gaseous refrigerant is then compressed, which heats it further. In a heat exchanger, the heated refrigerant transfers the absorbed heat to the heating system, which heats the rooms or water. This process is driven by the use of electricity, whereby the air source heat pump delivers significantly more heat energy than it consumes in electrical energy, making it a particularly efficient heating solution.
